Located in the heart of Kuopio, Kuopion Kauppahalli has been serving customers for over a century. Since opening in 1902, it has been the city’s traditional marketplace for fresh meat, fish, and baked goods — combining local heritage with modern tastes.

A landmark with character
Designed by architect Johan Victor Strömberg and completed in 1902, the building represents Jugend (Art Nouveau) architecture, with decorative façades and distinctive towers. Its colorful exterior features animal and plant motifs, reflecting the market’s connection to nature and food traditions.
Extensively renovated in 2012–2013, the Market Hall blends historic charm with modern facilities — offering a welcoming atmosphere and high-quality local products under one roof.
